This was the initial poster I created for my Event. This poster would be hung in Gaming Cafes, Technology Stores, and Schools, due to the people who frequent these places.
After talking with some friends who weren't in the League of Legends community, they weren't sure if they would be interested in the event just based on the poster, as they don't recognize the pro players on the poster, and therefore the event isn't about a game that they follow, such as Call of Duty or Valorant, which would also be featured at the event.
Udysof and Whynot are quite well-known in the League of Legends community, however for the 'Average Joe', they are complete strangers, so I decided to make a poster that could be hung out and about, such as in town, on the side of the showgrounds, at supermarkets etc. I wanted a poster that would be neutral for all games (As oppose to LoL centric) and would be just marketed as "The Future of NZ Esports".
Development
I got some feedback from my lecturer, and he wasn't a fan of the curved text at the top, as it was unnecessary and a bit messy, so I changed it to a straight line, however that didn't look particularly good, so I just removed it and adjusted the title to compensate for the now-empty space.
My lecturer also recommended adding more of a space between the Slogan and the logo, as it looked a bit cramped. I also removed Raaz and Toby for the reasons stated above, and made the QR code bigger. Above the QR code, I added a "Call to action" line to Scan the Code.
I also added two gradient detail shapes to the side to make the poster background more interesting and not so empty.
After getting some more feedback, I decided to remove the "Scan code for more info:" line as it's obvious what the QR code is for, and people who are interested by the Title and Slogan will scan it anyway.
I made the QR code smaller and moved it up a bit. I also moved down the slogan as it looked too close to the logo as it made the poster look cluttered.
I then put the poster into a mockup I found online.
